Electric Vehicle Charge Point Installation in Wilmslow
Wilmslow Electrical Services provide professional EV charge point installation in Wilmslow and across South Manchester. As OZEV (formerly OLEV) authorised installers, we install electric vehicle charging points safely, correctly and in line with current UK regulations.
We offer a complete service covering advice, system selection, installation and commissioning. All EV charger installations are carried out by fully qualified, insured electricians working to the latest electrical safety standards.
Home EV Charging Installations
We install dedicated home EV charging points throughout Wilmslow and Greater Manchester. While a standard 3-pin plug can be used occasionally, it is slow and not suitable for regular charging due to the risk of overheating.
A professionally installed EV charger provides faster charging, improved electrical safety and long-term reliability. We help you choose the most suitable charger based on your vehicle, property layout and daily charging requirements.
Charging Your Electric Vehicle at Home
As most EV charging takes place at home, it is essential that the charger integrates safely with your existing electrical system. Before installation, we assess:
- The location of the charger in relation to parking and access
- The capacity of your electrical supply to support EV charging
- Any permissions required for rented or leasehold properties
This ensures your EV charger operates efficiently without overloading your household electrics.
Tethered or Untethered EV Chargers
We install both tethered and untethered EV chargers:
- Tethered chargers – permanently attached cable for convenience and quick connection
- Untethered chargers – use a separate Type 2 lead, offering flexibility for multiple vehicles
We will advise on the most practical option based on your current vehicle and future plans.
Load Monitoring & Electrical Safety
Where required, we install load monitoring systems to manage electrical demand safely. This allows your vehicle to charge without overloading the main supply or causing nuisance tripping when other appliances are in use.
EV Charger Connector Types
Most modern electric vehicles use a Type 2 connector, which is now the UK standard. If your vehicle requires a different connector type, we will specify a compatible charging unit to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Solar EV Charging
If your property has solar panels, we can install an EV charger compatible with solar PV systems. This allows excess solar generation to be used for vehicle charging, reducing running costs and improving energy efficiency.
Smart Charging Features
Modern EV chargers include smart functionality such as scheduled charging, energy usage monitoring and app-based control. Software updates are applied automatically, ensuring continued performance and compatibility.
